My Mom

February 27-- It snowed again and the darkness lingers on. Refresh my memory, but was Bill Clinton still in The White House the last time we saw the sun?

I love my Mom. Even though I'm a fully grown man with a family of my own, she still cares and worries about me like I was off to my first day of school.

I'm a runner and recently my Mom said, "I don't think you should run when the weather is bad." I explained to her that if I only ran when the weather was nice in St. Louis, I'd get to run about as often as Rosie O'Donnell won a figure skating competition.

Her mind didn't seem to be at ease so I made her a promise.

"Mom," I said. "I'll make you a deal. I promise not to enter any kick boxing matches or juggle burning torches in my living room unless the weather in St. Louis is absolutely beautiful."

She still didn't seem at ease, but I don't think I need to worry about having my jaw broken or upping my home owners insurance for a long, long time.

Wishing you sanity and survival in Another Day In The Gray!

Iggy's story still on the way!

    Hey Todd, cool site.
I spent my last 2 years of high school in Milwaukee Wisconsin. They call Chicago "the windy city', but Milwaukee is windier and colder, I remember wind chills of -75. I am tellin ya man, it was fricken cold! So you might be thinking that I am going to say, "Well it could be worse." Wrong!
Next to my house in Milwaukee there was a shallow but wide pond where we skated and played hockey. It was a blast. Especially in the spring when one of us would invariably fall through the ice into the freezing water and have to break the ice all the way to shore to get out, all while the others laughed at you.
Most everyone had snowmobiles, which if you have never had the opportunity, it is truly a treat.
Just north of Milwaukee was Little Switzerland, a ski area that although you spent 3/4's of your time in the tow lift line (which was a great place to chat up the ladies might I add), but they served beer to anyone that looked older than 12, and we would drink beer and play ski tag almost every Fri and Sat night. Could not have been more fun.
What I am trying to say here is that St Louis winter weather, in comparison, is much, much worse. Nobody knows how to drive in this crap that falls from the sky here, and I have found no redeeming qualities what-so-ever.
It would seem the only thrilling thing to do in St Louis winter weather is be in a car accident.
